Johanna AnderssonDolly Parton was my first yoga teacher, though I don't think she knows. It took her a few years to get my attention...

The year leading up to my Self-realization was intense and difficult. I lived in Swaziland, South Africa working as a volunteer in a project with street kids. At the same time I worked as a dancer, tried to complete my studies and longed for my family in Sweden. My daily yoga practice not only sustained me during that time, but opened me to deeper and deeper layers of the essence of life. Since that time I have known the incredible peace that comes from profound inner stillness, from knowing who you truly are.

I have been practicing yoga since 1999. My practice quickly became a sacred time of renewal and exploration. Seven years later, I gratefully go to my mat daily because I know the tremendous healing, rejuvenating and transformative powers of yoga.

I have been teaching yoga since 2000. Yoga was simply too wonderful to not share with others.

I am registered with the Yoga Alliance at the level of professional yoga teacher. I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher certification through OM Yoga in New York with Cindy Lee. Last summer I joined Shiva Rea in Venice for a body and mind blowing experience. I have trained with numerous nationally recognized yoga teachers. I am trained in Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara and Vinyasa Flow traditions and draws on them all in my teaching, depending on the needs of my students.

At present, my teacher is myself, my friends and my family.

I tend to focus particularly on the flow of Prana, alignment and the use of breath to deepen the experience of meditation in posture and movement. The sequences I'm teaching now are the fruit of my years of practice and the input of many amazing teachers, writers and musicians.

I think the most serious endeavours are best entered into with an attitude of play, that love is the greatest teacher, and that, really, ALL people are good at heart. The guidance I receive in practice, from within, is always of utmost importance; may it be for you, also.

And if you happen to know Dolly, I'd sure love to meet her...
