I discovered yoga about seven years ago, when I was stressed out by work
and was holding on to emotional baggage. I had been playing
competitive sports, running, kickboxing, mountain biking and spinning to
relieve tension. One Friday, instead of heading to the nearest pub
with my workmates, I decided to try an Ashtanga yoga class instead. I
had never worked so hard during, or felt so good after exercising. So,
much to my colleagues' disappointment, it became a regular thing and
wonderful things started happening: I sorted out issues that had been
plaguing me for years, I got promoted at work, stopped smoking, and got
engaged to the life of my life. It had such a profound impact on me
that I told my husband that I wanted to be able to teach yoga one day,
so that I could share its gifts.
After we had our first baby, I so loved being with her that I couldn't bear the thought of going back to the corporate world. It was the perfect opportunity to change careers, do something that I am so passionate about and give something back to the world. Teaching takes my practice and understanding to a deeper level. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new and to share it with people embarking on their own beautiful journeys.
