Mimi Kuo-Deemer has been practicing Yoga for 15 years and teaching for
the past 7. Her approach draws from the principles of mindful Vinyasa
Yoga, dance and Taiqi/Qigong. Her teaching balances active, dynamic
movements with more receptive, quieting practices. Mimi believes Yoga
is an accessible and enlivening practice that anyone, regardless of
experience or physical condition, can find beneficial; its capacity to
foster insight and joy inspires her daily. Teaching is one of Mimi's
favorite things to do, and she loves to share the happiness that Yoga
can bring.
Mimi's main teachers in the Yoga world are Erich Schiffmann and Donna
Farhi, who impart to her the ideas that teaching, meditation and one's
own Yoga practice are some of the greatest gifts in life. She also
draws inspiration from Max Strom, whom she assisted through his 200
hour Yoga Alliance teacher training, Matthew Cohen, and Sarah Powers.
Equally valuable is the learning she gains each day from her students
and self-practice.
Born and raised in the United States, Mimi lived in Beijing, China for
14 years, where she worked as a documentary photographer as well as
co-founder and co-directer of Yoga Yard, Beijing's first and leading
Yoga centre. In October 2009, she moved to London with her husband
Aaron, and teaches weekly classes at Triyoga, the Life Centre (in
Chiswick), and the Special Yoga Centre. She is a registered Yoga
Alliance Teacher (RYT) and a member of the International Association of
Yoga Therapists (IAYT). For more information visit www.mkdeemer.com.
