The appleyoga Approach
appleyoga, devised by Katy Appleton, is Bhakti inspired hatha yoga integrating the grace and beauty of somatic movement, vitality and health with vinyasa flow kramas and the integrity of traditional foundations of Sivananda, Iyenga and Ashtanga asana, pranayama, meditation and kriya principles.

The Course
A 200 hour Yoga Alliance accredited course, the appleyoga teacher training offers you contemporary & traditional yoga teaching styles and certifies you to teach beginner level hatha yoga and mixed level vinyasa flow yoga. It is suited to people who are new to teaching yoga, with a minimum 2 years yoga experience, as well as teachers who want to master The appleyoga Approach. The application process opens August 2010 on a rolling basis.

Set over 11 weekends within a six month period, the London based course offers flexibility for busy schedules with intensity of learning. It provides a stimulating yoga education covering a comprehensive and relevant range of subjects taught from creative perspectives by highly experienced, knowledgeable and inspiring teachers.

The course also uses unique teaching methods such as Yamuna Body Rolling to increase your somatic awareness and specially designed applepod sequences that help to create distinctive and effective classes.

It is complemented by a mentoring system to build self-confidence and assist you in facing the challenges that we all experience in this beautiful thing called Life! You will also be welcomed into the appleyoga community, a wonderful support network of gatherings, online resources, yoga education and like-minded spirits!

You will finish the course:
•    Ready to teach a 10 week hatha yoga beginner course
•    Ready to teach dynamic vinyasa classes for multi-levels
•    With fine-tuned teaching skills for a syllabus of over 80 asanas
•    Knowing how to align, adjust and support students and someone with an injury
•    With basic knowledge of the history and origins of yoga
•    Having had an introduction to yoga philosophy to contextualize further study
•    With tools for working with one's own psychological and spiritual process
•    With a deeper connection to your practice and how this informs your daily life

ONE LETTER OF REFERENCE with your application: We need a reference with your application, preferrably your yoga teacher, who should have a good knowledge of your practice and be able to comment on your standard or be able to give an assessment of your suitability for the course with a brief character reference. Alternatively a recent college tutor, employer or another yoga teacher that you may have attended class with to offer us an assessment of your suitabilty for the course with a brief character reference.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and we do expect the course to fill up quickly. Once you have submitted your application, we will let you know whether or not you have been accepted within two weeks of the date your application (including your reference!) was received.

During this time we will review your application. If we have any questions or want to clarify anything, you may receive a phone call from one of us.

Once you have been accepted, we will send you an email requesting a non-refundable deposit of £500 and your agreement to the course terms & conditions.

Upon receipt of your deposit, we will send you an information packet that will include a course syllabus, location details, a book and materials list, and some pre-course homework to get you in the mood and prepare you for our time together!

will deliver the main body of the course, covering: appleyoga’s methodology, asana, pranayama, meditation and kriya techniques and practices; yoga masterclasses; applepods, sequencing, kramas and appletouch; teaching skills and class planning; business skills; anatomy and physiology movement and the energy body.

Leila Sadeghee will teach the subjects of yoga philosophy; ethics; anatomy and physiology from a body works perspective and will be providing mentoring support and overall input into the main body of the course and OM coursework.
