Location: In Sabina, Italy
TEAcher: Katy Appleton
Join Katy Appleton on appleyoga's third retreat to Italy's rolling countryside of In Sabina, just one hour away from the centre of Rome.
This peaceful haven lies in the heart of the Sabine hills amidst olive groves and a rolling landscape. It has spectacular views, a magical outdoor setting for yoga and grounds that are lush and abundant, with a natural spring, gardens, pond and swimming pool. The property is peaceful, rustic and ideal for spiritual practice.
In the midst of the Italian countryside, your twice daily yoga classes will be conducted on the magnificent outdoor yoga platform, which overlooks the lush surrounding valley, making it conducive to a week of utter tranquility and deep restoration. Accommodation is in two beautifully restored 17th century stone farmhouses with terraces which open out to a gentle panorama of olive groves, fruit trees and stunning sunsets. Every room is unique and tastefully designed. Selected by Taschen books as one of the “Great Yoga Retreats” (2009), they described this retreat centre as “a second home that makes you forget the passing of time.”
This retreat will give you a hands on, fun and personal experience - whether you are an experienced yogi, or have always wanted to learn, we will enter into a rejuvenating, deep, dynamic flow, guided by the beauty of In Sabina.
A magnificent outdoor yoga platform lies in the valley surrounded by lush, unspoilt nature. Designed by architect Marco Antonini, its wooden platform measures 15m x 10m, with a graceful white cloth covering for shade.
The indoor yoga room, which measures 5m x 10m, has an atmosphere of serene tranquillity with views over the hills and valleys and is also used for meditation, chanting and treatments. Both spaces are equipped with yoga props and music systems.
appleyoga’s Italian adventure will be an unforgettable week that will allow you to experience the richness of the Italian countryside with its wealth of culture and natural beauty.
Whether you have tried yoga before or indeed if this will be your first time, In Sabina could not be a more perfect setting in which to indulge in the transformational, fun and rejuvenating pleasures to be enjoyed in this week of celebration with appleyoga.
On this trip there are opportunities to enjoy walks, excusions to hot sulphur springs, medieval sites, local festivals in surrounding villages or even a trip to Rome and Umbria. The private pool is also prefect for enjoying the warmth and relaxing at your own pace.

Yurts near the pool at In Sabina
The yurts are outdoor tents (circular, almost 3m diameter and made of canvas) with a bed and bedding inside. Comfortable and clean and very nicely designed they can be hot during the day in the sun and sometimes cold at night.
There is no electricity inside - just simple solar lighting, so are suited to those who like ‘comfortable camping’. The toilet is about 60m away and there are 2 outdoor warm showers to share with the others.
Single offsite accommodation
There is extra accommodation on a property five minute’s walk from In Sabina. There are two double bedrooms available for single occupancy with ensuite bathrooms in a self-contained gatehouse, suitable for those who would like private accommodation or who enjoy being a little away from the main group. The bedrooms are in good condition and comfortable; however, they are smaller, and do not boast the level of design and quality of the bedrooms at In Sabina.
For those who book these rooms the rest of the property is not available for use (including the swimming pool) as the owner and his family are often there. Guests spend most of their time at In Sabina which has its own swimming pool and extended gardens and grounds.
Located in the Sabine Hills near the charming medieval village of Torri in Sabina just one hour away from the centre of Rome.

We suggest flying to Rome's Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) airport. We can organise a large minibus transfer at 3:30pm on the arrival date, so if you would like to be a part of the minibus transfer, please book your flights accordingly so you can take advantage of this (you'd pay the bus driver directly, we can confirm prices once we know student numbers). We recommend you aim to be there for this, but if you can't then alternative arrangements can be made, at a cost of:
€120 car (up to 3 passengers)
€170 small minibus (up to 8 passengers)
€250 large minibus (9 - 16 passengers)
There will be a return journey transfer (same prices as above) from In Sabina at 10am to Rome's Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) airport on 22nd June arriving approx 11:30am.
Once you've booked your place on the retreat we'll be in touch to find the details of your travels and to organise things from there.
If you would like to stay in the area the beautiful La Torretta in the historic centre is a stunning family run B&B recommended by our hosts at In Sabina.
Visas are not required for British and European passport holders for stays up to 90 days. Passports must be valid for three months from the date of entry into Italy. Please check if you need a visa prior to arrival.
