Module I
The Architecture of Asana


Module I is an opportunity to take an in depth look at asana and the architecture of the yoga poseS.

This module is the perfect way to develop and clean up your personal practice and offers a solid foundation to build upon in training to become a yoga teacher.

Katy Appleton will guide you through the signature appleyoga structured alignment and methodology inside of this module. The luminous appleyoga faculty will provide an insight into their specific subject areas, sharing a wealth of knowledge and experience with you. Module I is an essential experience for any dedicated yogi and a prerequisite for Module II - Teacher Training.

This module is suitable to all except beginners and requires a minimum of 6-12mths regular yoga practice. 

Module I will include:

  • Detailed Master classes with Katy Appleton to clean up and enhance self practice of asana and technique
  • appleyoga Syllabus – an in depth look at core poses and families of postures.
  • appleyoga Technique Lab – where we break down the postures of the appleyoga syllabus and sequences in biomechanical detail to enhance your understanding of the body and its dynamics while in postures and flows
  • Anatomy - Covers the basics of the structural anatomy within the yoga asana and looks at the physiology behind the benefits of yoga
  • Methodology  - A look at the appleyoga's signature structured alignment and methodology
  • An introduction into pranayama - breathing techniques
  • How to build your class and self practice
  • Understanding vinyasa kramas Part 1
  • Closing practices to complete the day – introduction to meditation, yin yoga and yoga nidra. 

Omwork for all:

  • Pre-course reading  - specified anatomy books
  • appleyoga asana syllabus study
  • Multiply choice test on anatomy section at the end of the module
  • Regular self practice

Compulsory omwork for trainee teachers completing the 300hr Program:

  • Asana Library Project – A project that will be started during the course and built upon inside of your personal practice. This project will deepen your knowledge of asana and give you a detailed look at the technique involved in each pose.
  • Multiply choice test on anatomy section at the end of the module
  • Anatomy essay at end of module
  • Daily self practice

You will finish this module with:

  • A deeper understanding of yoga & breath practices
  • Useful skills to give you greater awareness and precision in your yoga practice
  • Skills to create your self practice
  • A greater understanding of the anatomy and physiology of you and within yoga poses

On certification all hours of training go towards a Yoga Alliance UK & USA Training certification
